The money in the guild bank are partly for paying the respeccing of guildies to raids. We have no clear policy on how much the bank shall pay, therefor I think we better discuss it.
I think the fairest is if the bank pay for the re-specc that benefits the raid - but not for the specc back to PVP-dps or whatever it may be.

What do you think?

I think guild bank should pay the respecc if it benefits raids, but what if the person is already specced for PvE? Like Bov for example, if he'd specc resto for the raid should guild bank pay the respecc back to feral too since it can benefit raids/instance runs too?

I don't think the bank should pay for a back-specc no matter what. Because perhaps one day later Bov needs to be the healer in one of our raids again - shall we then pay for specces back and forth one more time? That would make guild bank pay 4 times as much!
And of course - if we pay to specc Bov to resto and need him to tank the day after we will pay for his feral specc.

The guild bank should be available to pay for respecs if:

It's a benefit to the guild
No-one else can cover the slot
By respeccing, it doesn't open up another slot that will be hard to cover

E.g, the MT speccing for healing is not a good idea.

I personally don't want the GB to pay for me to spec back afterwards if I have to, but I am undecided on the issue.

Let me give you a example what the guild currently requires of me: Shagonar as a character is designed to be mainly only for PvP and as a damagedealer in PvE and he uses a Retri spec. Guild needs me from time to time to MT in raids as I have... quite good tanking gear. Therefore I need to respec to Protection only for one evening and as I have no interest in tanking itself after it I need either to respec back to Retri to continue playing with this character. One respec is about 53g. So... Respec to Protection for one evening and then back to Retri to continue gathering honor.The whole manouver for one raid costs me totally of 106g. Guild offers currently support me for 21,5g and I pay the rest from my own pouch... What do you think of this?

No, GB will pay you for the whole specc to tank now as we finally have some gold in there. But the bank can't pay for you speccing retri again as that doesn't benefit the guild's PVE progress - and that's what the guild bank is for. Not to support your IC character.

And it's nothing like you joining out of pure generosity, is it? I mean, you get badges, raid experience, a fun night and loot too. Smile

53g to spec prot? When did you last respec? I would have thought it would have gone back down by now.

I'd say, GB pay the full respecc one way, ex. Bovinus to healer. But not the respecc back to feral. Can't explain why, something about staying healer for the challenge till next Karazhan. (tried for 10 minutes to say it more clearly but ends up in mumbo jumbo every time)

Sharpeyes:
Rogue: everything but shadowstep specc
Mage: everything works, fire is preffered though.
Hunter: everything works, Beast mastery is said to be the most powerfull before Black Temple and Mount Hyjal.
Warlock: everything works, demonology not preferred but possible.

Paying for DPS...

Well if we have a frost mage, yet need fore for one fight, we should pay for his spec.

Same if we have a demo 'lock but need a destro one.

If the guild needs someone to switch spec they should pay for the change (but not the change back as that's the persons choice and doesn't help the PvE progress of the guild.)

I have one question. I am purely a frost mage, with frost gear. I have not a single piece dealing fire damage, other than the general "+ x damage to spells and healing". Should I, given the situation of respeccing, start gathering relatively good fire/+damage gear, or would i be able to see in the guild bank if there would be something suitable?
this is not a "give me gear" post, since it easily could be directed to shadowpriests going holy, and suchlikes :p

Any gear that -could- be used by another class should really be left in the guild bank until it's actually needed.

That said I doubt anyone will have any issues with doing instances with you to get for offspec.

The same would go for any class really.

You can have the fire destruction stuff that would drop for me anytime, mate. I'll stick to shadow, that's for sure. ^^ (Also, if you want to make the fire/arcane tailoring set, we can trade on cloth.)
