I can understand that you would also like to be in the center of a big event, that is totally okay. And go ahead, plan one - but consider these things first:

1. Agali is not evil. She is the leader of this guild. Why would she keep evil people in her guild? Why would she let them appear at meetings? I only know one way - by being OOC. And I can tell you, being forced to act OOC is no fun at all - it destroys my, and the other elder's, fun as we have no other choice but pretending our characters have the memories of goldfish and suddenly forgets all the bad that you have done in order to keep the fun for YOU. So if you want to keep your character in the guild IC you should not do things that would get you kicked out IC.

2. This is open RP. You can not plan on how other characters are supposed to act. The only thing you really can plan is how your event will start - the rest is up to all people interacting. Of course, you can talk with some of the others before and you can agree on how you want the event to turn out. That is totally okay but only if you are having the event with no one else around that might act differently.

3. Is it really believable that half of this guild contains people with multiple personalities, mysterious artifacts, dark powers, evil goals etc? Is it still fun for everyone else or is it starting to get boring? Is it still special or has it turned in to the norm? I'd say it is the norm and it sucks. Nowadays it is really special to meet a farmer, hunter, merchant or whatever NORMAL character. THESE are the characters that makes the RP fun and dynamic, that even makes it feel real!

4. Does RP have to be dead serious? Is your character such a boring person that he or she would never ever get drunk and make a fool of her/himself, get lost in Orgrimmar, go fishing with a couple of friends, spend half the day trying to make the perfect omelette, flirt with NPC's, fall and hurt an arm or whatever else that has NOTHING to do with evil plots?! Is it totally wrong to get a good laugh while roleplaying? Is it shameful to roleplay someone who is a little bit lost, clumsy, stupid or just has a genuine good heart?
No, it is good RP!

This thread reeks of truth. Very well said.

Was this directed at the guild?

1. I agree completely. We all love Agali. Wink Although I must admit that she is a char which I personally find hard to RP with. Make a Blood Elf which I can flirt with. Very Happy Agali is the "boss" of this guild so that is the one reason why people act a little bit reserved in her company. I know that I do IC. Because of her position she is kept out for almost everything... And most likely for a good reason.

2. True. Although that is also why I have not made any events directed to the whole guild because of it. So many different things happening at the same time that I have hard time following, acting and typing to them... I am a slow writer.

3. Some questions and comments.
-The artifact/special trait thing is true. I have seen quite many different descriptions about character which have been half demons and the world crys because of their existence. Interesting I am sure and fun to RP. I think the personality and the background of the char has to be like one that could be played IC in every kind of situtiation and every kind of place. People might want to be a bit special because they might not be in real life.

Lets make a example: "Durgh, The Orcish farmer lives a quiet life in Durotar. Herding boars and growing turnips. He makes a decent living and is very satisfied by his life".

I would not be surprised to meet him in Durator or in Orgrimmar but what if you would meet him in Un'goro Crater or even in Outlands?
-Hey Durgh. What are you doing here attacking Botanica?
-Hey. They stole my turnips and kicked my boars. Me angry now. Me kill Kael'thas and the Warp Splinter now..

Entertaining I am sure but not so realistic. How about traveling merchant in BRD. That can work but unlikely. How about a common guardsman from Silvermoon in Tanaris. Maybe... How about lvl 70 warrior who is supposed to be a farmer tanking in Shadow Labyrinth? "Give me back me turnips you evil Murmur!"

So the question is: What kind of character has to be that he can be roleplayed EVERYWHERE IC... and still be realistic.

4. Considering personalities and the world we live in. There can be many different kind of personalities ofc but... Everyone makes their own decisions and develops their character in the way that they want to. We have good hearted people, people who are not so bright, people who are evil... What do we need? Funny people tripping in stairs and ones who drop their ale mugs so that everyone else can have a laugh? I think in this kind of world... They are the ones laying dead in the battlefields.

I can easily clear up the Deadmines and anything in it by myself. Heiriga, as a character, would've gone down the second she had to fight more than one at a time, if not earlier. If everything we did in the game should be something we're capable of IC, we'd either all have to be super-heroes, or we'd have to stay in the cities.

Well, Duurgh the farmer's character development would obviously take some things into account. He may have started off as a farmer, clearing the boars off his land, but one day he picks up his cudgel and brains a Centaur raider instead of running away. The next day his minor heroics are hailed in Razor Hill, where they come to the attention of Nazgrel and...

... clad in platemail and years away from his humble beginnings, Duurgh steps through the Dark Portal and into the Outlands. The sheer devestation of the broken orcish homeland shocks him, but soon enough he discovers the Mag'har, the uncorrupted orcish clans. Their simple way of life appeals to him, and in the verdant hills of Nagrand, Duurgh beats his sword into a ploughshare and settles down once more. Only the brooding prescence of the Burning Legion still troubles him... and one day, it may stir him to action....

I think what Agali is trying to say is not that everyone must play a dull as dishwater character, but that there is a vast preponderance towards playing characters that are somehow 'special'. Not everyone is a half-demon son of thrall with one purple eye who is a half-orc half night elf and also really hot... much of the best roleplay I find comes from characters who are not involved in vast evil plots, but maybe not clean and sparkly either...

Udd: Doesn't the character development of Durgh sound quite anonymous and usual? That could have happened to Shag or almost to anyone too. Apparently people seem to be more concerned about the background of the characters more than the personality of itself.

In my opinion, personality is a different thing than whacking a lot of 'unique' and 'special' differences on your character. A decent rper could give Durgh as much personality as your average demonically challenged antagonistic character - or even more, as he's not worrying about the gimmicks.

If Durgh's storyline had happened to Shagonar, surely Shag wouldn't be the same character as he is today? Events change people - Shag's whole broody menacing persona wouldn't have roots in a backstory like that - neither would Udd, or Elainne, or Agali...

Heiriga: Yes, it was aimed towards the guild and RP community in general.

I want to warn you guys as I will not be OOC any more times: Do not be surprised or go emo on me if Agali set a permanent price on your head IC if you act bad.
If your character has no interest in being in this guild you have three choices:
1. Hide it well from everyone.
2. Change your character's personality (can be done IC, aka character development)
3. Leave the guild IC

Udd: True... Although I do not think Shag as a good example of a colourful personality. Durgh's character development could have ended quite like Shags. He is just a normal warrior with strong opinions about people. Many of the guild members have betrayed him, suspected bad things about him and so on and so on. He has trusting problems and just tries to keep him in a distance from others. And I cannot remember anyone in our guild who has "special traits" other than Portilia, Leorna and Gilandael... Well Afflict had too.

haha terl is a aged grunt from org (very simple) he's quater mad from the sights he saw (very simple)

but the thing that gives terl his "UNIQUENESS" is his age nothing more hes old and losing it wich will be good to RP when im not called away from my pc

his basic personallity is :- im old leave me alone / Yes Sir! / kill alliance (side effect of guarding org for years) all sounds very dull and it is atm but there are some storys to terl than i havent fully thought out yet and atm they seem very interesting

Well. Gilandael started out as a simple seeker of lore. He has had some past trauma because of the Silvermoon attack along with virtually every other blood elf.

The thing that made Gil Special was Dimmethion, his warlock brother who also seeked out lore, but also used it in dark and nefarious ways. He possessed Gil, and he caused some mischief. But now he has been expelled. So, as soon Gil has healed back up, he will yet again, be a simple wiseman(elf :p) Travelling the worlds in search of long forgotten lore. Though, Dimmethion still exists, he does not possess Gil any longer. Dimmethion mainly hangs in the background, ready to be used in some evil plotline in the future.

Why Gil often encounters special situations is quite logical really. If you know dark secrets that you have learned on your travels, you are also bound to attract dark people..As well as good ones, as you know ancient lore.

Well, i hope this clears a thing or two up. I'm not trying to be "the centre star" of the guild, merely someone that makes plot's keep going.

I have very little to say about Agali's informing post except for "Amen"
Far too many people think they are the son/brother of Thrall and is the one and only saviour of Azeroth and is going to lead the final battle against the Alliance sometime soon, this gets quite boring after some time and I like to punch such people in the face, hard. Creativity is essential to RPing.
